Griff Jenkins, my father-in-law, was a blacksmith specialising in shovel manufacturer in Ceredigion, West Wales. He was actively producing shovels until his death some 15 years ago. Part of his estate includes his main workshop, with some of the machinery he used. Enquiries locally as to whether there was anyone who might like to take over the forge and equipment have drawn a blank so we are looking as to how best to dispose of the machinery so the workshop can be used for other purposes.
In particular there are two presses of which Griff was very proud, one Fly and one Powered. Rather than just scrap them we would prefer them to go somewhere they might be valued as part of our industrial heritage or, ideally, be put back into productive use.
Brief details of the presses and other machinery that we are seeking to dispose of are given below.

A 6 ton fly press supplied by Joseph Pugsley & Sons. This is in good order. It is currently set up as a guillotine but we believe it has a die set for the Aberaeron pattern shovel, amongst others.
The photos show the press in its current and original condition. This video shows it in operation.
This is a 60-ton Lecra Cam Drawing type Press. It is powered by a separate, single-phase electric motor. The motor turns freely by hand but I haven't powered it up and the belt connection to the press is currently absent. The press has die sets for a number of spade / shovel designs.
The photos show the press in original and current condition, and also some of the die sets and stamped spades/shovels. This video shows the main drive can be turned by hand and drives the flywheel - I can't move the lever to engage the flywheel with the piston so I can't show this in operation.
This is belt-powered by a separate, single-phase electric motor. This video shows it running.
Belt powered by a separate, single-phase electric motor. In occasional current use. This video shows it running.
RJH Bison Grinder. Powered by 2hp internal, single-phase electric motor. In occasional current use. This video shows it starting and running.
Supplied by Buck & Hickman Ltd of London.
Belt powered but not connected at present so its operational condition is unknown.
The mechanics seem in order - the head can be raised and the blade moved.
There are a number of electrical motors available and a suitable one to go with the hacksaw can probably be provided.
Needs cleaning but in working order. Bending width 42".
Supplied by K Yung of Berlin. Powered by internal, single-phase electric motor. Operational condition unknown.
Bamfords no 2A saw bench with 30inch saw blade.
There are limitations on site access. The workshop building is close to a narrow public road which is some 500yards from a larger B-road. As a guide, it can be comfortably accessed by Builders Merchant delivery vehicles (eg Travis-Perkins / Jewsons). The entrance to the workshop yard is wide but slopes downwards. Turning for large vehicles is difficult and most drivers prefer to reverse back down to the B-road.
I have no lifting or moving equipment to hand so in principle the purchaser would need to remove the equipment from its present position in the workshop. If this is problematic I may be able to make arrangement locally to move equipment to the workshop entrance but any dismantling / loading would need to be done by the purchaser. There is clear height of 2.4m. in the workshop. All equipment apart from the Lecra press is less than this. The Lecra press is mounted on a base and will need to be separated from this for removal.
